The Cross

May he always love The Cross as much as he does now.
-Mary Crouch

As you can imagine, Josh isn't much of a jewelry guy, but he has one really special necklace that he wears. It's the cross that his mom gave him his senior year of high school, and with the exception of the occasional basketball game or knee surgery, it's been around his neck every single day since.
One of Jack's favorite things to do is to cuddle with Daddy each night after his bath, and he's developed the most precious routine for those snuggle times. He curls up in his towel, lays his head on Josh's chest, and sucks his thumb while holding the cross with the same hand. All the while, he runs the fingers of his other hand along its edges. I don't know how long he would sit there in that moment with his Daddy, but I'm pretty sure that Jack has never been the first to move.

I know all little children love their daddies, but there's something really special between these two:

They can spend all day long throwing the ball, wrestling, chasing, and getting dirty. But at the end of each day, there's a sweet exchange that takes place in the quiet of the evening. So is the story of The Cross.

I can't think of words sufficient to describe the feelings this posting evoked. As I marveled at the sight of this precious little boy with his very special daddy, a sentence prayer came to mind: "May he always love The Cross as much as he does now."
Love, mom

Anyone who can read this precious story and look at those amazing pictures and not ball like a baby is in need of serious help! Oh, what a beautiful moment between father and son...I'm still tearing up. :-)
