At Least He Tried

It's been a slow week around here, so I don't really have any big, crazy activities to blog about. But I do have some random photos I've been wanting to toss in, so I guess this is as good a time as any, huh?

One bit of exciting news that I keep forgetting to mention is that Jack got released from speech therapy a couple of weeks ago. He had his one-year reevaluation in June, and although he still shows a slight delay, it's nothing like the much larger struggles he had when we first had him tested. (Have I mentioned how much I love the modern medical marvel known as ear tubes? I just wish we would have known to act earlier!) Here he is with his precious speech therapist, "Miss Ginfer".

Jennifer is incredibly good at what she does, and she has patience like none other (I'm definitely included in that "none other" category!) She's been a blessing to our family, and we're trying to keep her around with Isabel and with the new baby to come.

Speaking of how much Jack is growing, I really love these next photos. He decided not long ago that he wants to sleep in just his shorts (no shirt), because that's what his idol does (his idol is more commonly known as "Daddy" around these parts). So here he is doing his best "I'm a big guy" impersonation.

Because big guys always have a baby blankie in hand. Love it!

Izzy's still trucking along and she's showing more and more of her personality each day. There's something I've learned about myself from her recently, though. I don't want to toot my own horn too loudly, but I'm apparently quite gifted in teaching my children proper table manners...

Better get to work on that one.

Izzy and Binky are tighter than ever...

(I just can't decide if that's a look of peace and contentment or a look of "Come any closer, and I'll bite your finger right off your hand").

We'll go with peace and contentment.

What I do know is that the little ones are loving the warm weather!

I'm pretty sure they've spent at least one hour of every day for the past two weeks in their bathing suits (also known by Jack as "baby soups"...refer to Paragraph 2).

In chatting with Josh one day last week, I mentioned that I had an idea of something really special he could do for me. I don't know if you've picked up on this yet or not, but I have a soft spot in my heart for photography. And as you saw in this post, I want to make sure the little ones see pictures of Mommy taking part in their lives every once in a while, too. So I asked Josh to just grab the camera occasionally (or maybe pick it up gingerly as if it cost more than our car) and snap some pictures of me playing with the kids sometime.

Well, he did.

From inside the kitchen window, he saw me playing "Ride the Little Horsey" with Isabel, and he thought he would capture a fun, lighthearted playtime between a Mommy and her sweet baby. Only I was in a bathing suit!!!

Men.

Thankfully he zoomed in pretty tight on us, so hopefully none of you are screaming "My eyes! My eyes!" right about now.

And when it's too hot or when it's raining outside (the rain scenario is purely hypothetical), there's always the casual boat ride around the living room (via the clothes hamper).

Have a happy Thursday!

Allison, you are just too funny! I get the biggest kick out of reading your daily adventures with the kids...as I said before, you really need to be a photo-journalist, or at least write children's stories and illustrate them! Today's post was such a fun read. Hope you guys have a great 4th!!

Love, Aunt Libby
